Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 10th, 2026  |  Applies to the Emotely Discord bot and this website

Short version: Emotely does not store any personal data. The bot is fully stateless. It processes your commands and then forgets you exist.

1. What this policy covers

This policy describes how Emotely (the Discord bot) and this website handle any information that passes through them. "We" and "our" refers to Sophia Atkinson, the sole developer and operator of Emotely.

2. The bot -- what it collects

Emotely collects and stores nothing. It is fully stateless, meaning it holds no database and writes no persistent records about you, your server, or your emoji. When you run a command:

  • The bot reads the necessary information from Discord (such as your server's emoji list) to carry out the command.
  • It performs the requested action (copy, export, import, etc.).
  • It discards everything. Nothing is written to disk or retained between commands.

No user IDs, usernames, server IDs, or command history are stored anywhere by the bot.

3. Error logging

When something goes wrong, the bot may write a brief error log to help diagnose the problem. These logs may include the type of command that failed and technical context (such as an API error code). They do not include your username, user ID, message content, or any personally identifiable information. Error logs are stored on a private self-hosted server in Oregon, USA, and are not shared with anyone.

4. This website

This website does not use cookies, tracking pixels, analytics scripts, or any third-party monitoring tools. It does not log your IP address or browsing behavior beyond what a standard web server might temporarily hold in memory. No data from website visits is retained.

If you submit an issue report via the issue form, the contents (your Discord username and the text you enter) are sent directly to a private Discord channel via webhook. That information is visible only to the bot operator and is used solely to respond to your report. It is not shared, sold, or used for any other purpose.

5. Discord's own data practices

Emotely operates through the Discord API. Discord itself may collect and process data about your usage of their platform independently of Emotely. We have no control over Discord's data practices. Please refer to Discord's Privacy Policy for details on how they handle your information.

6. Third-party services

Emotely does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or data broker services. The website loads fonts from Bunny Fonts, a privacy-respecting font CDN that does not track users or log IP addresses.

7. Data retention

Because the bot stores nothing, there is no personal data to retain or delete. Error logs are pruned periodically and do not contain identifying information. Issue reports sent via the website are retained in a private Discord channel at the operator's discretion and can be deleted upon request.

8. Your rights

Because we do not store personal data, there is nothing for us to provide, correct, or erase in response to a data subject request. If you submitted an issue report and want it removed from our support channel, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Children

Emotely is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required to use Discord in your country). We do not knowingly interact with underage users. Discord enforces its own age requirements at the account level.

10. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the "last updated" date at the top of this page will be updated. Continued use of the bot after a policy change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
